Water Polo is one of the university’s 12 elite performance sports and the squads have a dedicated coach and training programme.

University of St Andrews Water Polo Scholarship
Elite athletes may be eligible for a University of St Andrews Water Polo Scholarship as part of the Saints Sport Supported Athlete Programme.
Water polo is classed as one of 12 established performance sport programmes at the University of St Andrews.
While most supported athletes at St Andrews have competed at least junior international level, the university does welcome applications from athletes who have competed at national level.
Athletes receiving support as part of the Supported Athlete Programme would receive a bursary to help with sports costs, such as training, competition, affiliation fees and equipment.
While support packages are tailor made for each individual, they may also include strength and conditioning support, access to sports science and performance analysis, lifestyle advice and mentoring, access to various sports medicine including subsidised physiotherapy and massage, and team kit.
Athletes with a University of St Andrews Water Polo Scholarship would also receive free access to the university fitness suites and other sports facilities.
Sports Facilities at the University of St Andrews
The University of St Andrews Sports Centre contains a fitness suite with cardiovascular and resistance machines, as well as free weights.
There is also a dedicated Performance Suite, reserved for athletes on a sports performance programme with a specific strength and conditioning programme written by S&C profressionals.
The University of St Andrews water polo team train at nearby St Leonards School and also train and play matches at the Olympia Leisure Centre in Dundee, which features a 50m Olympic sized swimming pool.
