Our Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is an assessment-only route which you can take to gain an SEQ Teaching qualification providing you already possess the relevant skills and knowledge. The RPL process is aimed at recognising and assessing a candidate’s knowledge against the relevant SEQ specification and assessment materials, without the support or guidance of a tutor.
Although the PRL process is not necessarily the quickest route to gaining the qualification, it allows candidates to upload evidence to demonstrate their existing knowledge without having to attend a course.

Anyone who already has experience of teaching swimming using the Swim England Learn to Swim Programme and can provide evidence of meeting the qualification specification without tutor support or learning resources. You will need to provide evidence of meeting the qualification specification criteria. This is done through our online assessment platform where you will need to familiarise yourself with the specification and complete the assessment tasks provided.
This will also include gathering video evidence, to showcase your practical delivery, and cannot be completed in a face to face environment. It is recommended that before you apply for the RPL programme, that you gain written permission to allow video evidence to take place, from your facility to ensure there are no delays in your RPL programme.
1. Candidate reviews relevant course specification(s) and determines that they have enough knowledge to complete the RPL programme.
2. Candidate books onto the RPL programme.
3. On the start date of the RPL programme, the candidate will be given details on how to access their workspace. Candidates will be given 4 weeks to submit all evidence to their online workspace. Their assessor will have 2 weeks to assess all evidence, and there will be 1 further opportunity to make any amendments as per the feedback provided.

2. Candidate books onto the RPL Initial Assessment.
3. An assessor will be in touch with the candidate the week of the Initial Assessment, to arrange a suitable time to conduct this via phone or Zoom.
4. If the assessor deems the candidate suitable for the RPL programme, they will be invited to book on to the next cohort. If the assessor deems the candidate to not be suitable for the RPL programme, feedback will be provided along with signposting to relevant course.
