‘Packed programme’ of artistic swimming national events is confirmed

The dates and venues for three of Swim England’s artistic swimming national competitions have been confirmed.

A total of four national events are held each year – the National Age Group Championships, the Junior and Senior National Championships, the Combo Cup and the National Masters Championships.

The events are returning to the usual format at pools across the country this year after being held virtually in 2021.

Young artistic swimmers will be in the spotlight at the National Age Group Championships at Gloucester’s GL1 pool on Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 April.

The event is contested over three age groups – nine to 10 years, 11-12 years and 13-15 years – who take part in four competitions – figures, solo, duet and team.

Entries for the National Age Group Championships open at 12 noon on Wednesday 2 February and close at the same time on Wednesday 2 March.

Nottingham’s Harvey Hadden Sports Complex is the venue for this year’s National Junior and Senior Championships.

Some of Swim England’s most prestigious trophies – including the Redwood Trophy – will be up for grabs at the historic competition.

It takes place on Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 April with entries opening at 12 noon on Wednesday 23 February and closing at 12 noon on Wednesday 23 March.

Exciting events

The Swim England Combo Cup will be held at the London Aquatics Centre on Saturday 2 July.

It is a unique event in the artistic swimming calendar as it features only free combination performances and it contested over two divisions and five age groups – 12 and under, 13-15 years, 13-18 years and 15 and under.

The entry window will open at 12 noon on Wednesday 4 May and close at the same time on Wednesday 1 June.

Meanwhile, the venue and date for the National Masters Championships will be announced later this year.

Maria Ramos, chair of the Swim England Artistic Swimming Leadership Team, said: “After two years of not being able to stage in-person events, we’re really excited to confirm a packed programme of national competitions.     

“Our virtual series was a creative way of competing but nothing beats being in the same pool together. 

“We are looking forward to welcoming competitors, officials and volunteers from across the country at our four exciting events.”
