Tom Daley Dive Academy launched in Manchester
November 19, 2015Olympic bronze medallist Tom Daley visited the Manchester Aquatics Centre yesterday to support the launch of the Tom Daley Dive Academy (TDDA).
The Tom Daley Dive Academy is a diving lessons programme which GLL started at the London Aquatics Centre. The programme is now being rolled out to their site in Manchester.
The academy is a grassroots programme that gives children and adults an opportunity to get into diving. It offers progressive lessons to develop a wide range of diving skills.
Children from local schools, as well as current divers on the TDDA programme, were invited to the Manchester Aquatics Centre to showcase their skills in the pool and receive some tips from Daley himself.
It is hoped that the TDDA in Manchester will continue to grow and develop, boosting the numbers of people participating in diving in Manchester and the North West Region.

The Manchester programme is hoping to emulate the success of the London TDDA programme which currently has more than 500 divers in the academy.
“It is fantastic to see the launch of the Tom Daley Diving Academy in Manchester,” said ASA National Diving Development Officer Becky Milnes.
“We are excited to see the huge opportunity this provides for grassroots diving participation and development in Manchester and the surrounding areas.”
