Determined Tom Daley reveals his motivation for success
March 6, 2019Tom Daley has spoken about how becoming a father has increased his motivation to perform at the highest level – so he can make his son proud.
Ahead of the FINA Diving World Series second leg, which takes place in the Beijing Water Cube between 7-9 March, Daley said: “I took four months off with my family because I now have a son.
“It changed my perspective on a lot of things, including training and diving. For me being able to train and dive is all the more important now because I have someone that I want to make proud.”
The 24 year-old won two medals on his return to the international diving stage during the first leg of the World Series in Japan, with a silver in the Men’s 10m Platform and bronze in the Mixed 3m Synchro.
Daley added: “It was my first international competition since I am back from my break and it went pretty well. So I am looking forward to competing here in the Water Cube.”
