Swim England youth squad head to Croatia for Primorje Cup 2024
June 20, 2024Swim England’s Artistic Swimming Youth Squad are in Croatia for the 23rd edition of the Primorje Cup this week.
A team of 11 athletes are heading out to Rijeka for the three day competition at the Kantrida Swimming Pool Complex.
The Primorje Cup is a regular fixture for the youth squad which gives the young athletes a great experience of travelling overseas and taking on their counterparts from across the continent.
Last year, England’s Youth Squad collected two golds in the team events and a silver in the Youth Duet, courtesy of Magdalena Townsend and Alyssa Anderson.
This time around they’ll be looking to add even more silverware to their collection as they look to follow on from the senior team’s success at the European Championships last week.
Medals will be up for grabs in solo, duet and team events from Friday 21 to Sunday 23 June with the team enjoying a training day in Olympic sized pool on Thursday.
Amongst the squad are the trio of Madeleine Fish, Lena Ramanah-Beck and Andrea Eliasson who all impressed at the European Youth Artistic Swimming Championships at the end of May.
The event in Athens, marked a first European event for Salford’s Ramanah-Beck and City of Leeds’ Fish who teamed up in the Free Duet to finish in 13th place, whilst Eliasson was eighth in the Free Solo.
In Croatia, Eliasson and Ramanah-Beck will both enter the solo competitions with Fish teaming up with Mollyrose Young in the duet. Frankie Klym and Lola Huett will also join forces in the Free Duet event.
It also gives the team a chance to showcase their routine which they’ve been working on throughout 2024.
City of Salford’s Ramanah-Beck has also been named captain of the squad with Rushmoor’s Cerys Snelling selected as vice-captain.
You can watch the competition throughout the weekend on the primorje sinkro YouTube channel and you can find the full squad list below.
