Formidable Fred Crossley dominates on the Platform on the final day in Sandwell

City of Leeds diver, Fred Crossley, produced a fantastic display from the Platform on the final day of action at the GoCardless Swim England Diving National Age Group Championships 2024.

Crossley seemed untouchable in the Open Group A Platform event and went on to win by almost 60 points as he earned the title of national champion.

He scored a formidable 318.80 points to take the victory. This included a score of nine being awarded for one of his dives – the first one of the championships.

The result marks his second medal of the competition, following his silver medal finish in the individual 3m event.

Max Goodwin (261.65) also completed a podium sweep from the weekend, picking up a silver medal to add to his gold and bronze medals.

Dive London’s Goodwin became national champion in the 1m event on the afternoon of day two and won a bronze in the 3m event on the penultimate day.

Amersham’s Jasper Hussain (230.20) won his first medal of the competition with bronze.

Harris completes medal collection

The Female Group C Platform event saw Sophia Harris claim her third medal, and first gold, of the competition.

The Star Diving Club diver scored a total of 199.20 – an 11-point improvement from her previous personal best.

On the weekend of her birthday celebrations, Harris added an extra present after clinching the national title.

As well as her gold, Harris will be taking home a bronze medal from the 1m synchro event on day two and a silver medal from the 3m individual event on day three – completing the collection for the youngster.

Alice Morskyj also added to her medal collection, winning her second medal of the competition with a silver.

Dive London’s Morskyj scored 180.00 points overall to place second in the Platform event. This follows her gold medal victory in the 3m individual event the day prior.

Emma Armstrong, of Southampton Diving Academy, also won her second medal of the championship as she finished in third place.

She added to her gold in the individual 1m event earlier in the competition.

The Southampton diver secured her podium finish with a score of 172.20 – just one point ahead of City of Leeds’ Emily Costello who finished in fourth.

Havis and Williams battle it out for gold

The Open Group B 1m witnessed a tight competition for gold between Southend Diving’s Noah Havis and Cambridge Dive Team’s Dominic Williams.

Havis just pipped Williams to the title – winning by a margin of 0.75. The victory marked his first medal of the competition.

Although just missing out on the gold, Williams’ silver also marks his first podium finish of this year’s championships.

Winning the bronze was Luke Raggett of Dive London Aquatics. This is Raggett’s second medal this weekend, following his silver medal finish in the 3m individual event during the morning session of day two.

An honourable mention should also be given to Ben Morrice of Aberdeen Diving Club who completed a hat-trick of commemorative gold medals.

More medals for the Group D Girls

Eimear Satherley of City of Sheffield Diving Club claimed her second medal, and first gold, of the weekend in the Female Group D 3m.

Satherley scored an admirable 180.80 points to claim the national title in the 3m event. This comes after her silver medal finish in the Platform event on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Star Diving Club diver Lily Houzego won her third medal and second silver of the competition.

Houzego won the championship title in the Platform event yesterday and also finished in silver in the 1m individual event.

In third position, City of Leeds’ Flo Hall secured her second bronze of the weekend following her podium finish in the Platform event.
