GoCardless Swim England National Winter Championships 2024 date confirmed

The date for the GoCardless Swim England National Winter Championships 2024 has been reviewed following feedback from the aquatics community.

This year’s competition will now take place from Thursday 5 to Sunday 8 December 2024 at Ponds Forge International Sports Centre in Sheffield.

Initially, a provisional date of 19 – 22 December was announced which targeted the same weekend in December as previous years.

However, with the proximity of the dates to Christmas and the knock on effect that can have on all those attending – including athletes, coaches and volunteers – a decision has been made to bring the event forward.

The National Winter Championships are the biggest English swimming meet of the winter months and often welcomes a number of Great Britain’s top senior swimmers.

Last year more than 3,600 swimmers entered the competition with Ponds Forge hosting four days of exciting action.

Amongst those that competed included some of Team GB’s squad for the Paris Olympic Games this summer such as Freya Colbert and Abbie Wood.

More information about this year’s event including the event conditions, qualifying times and a draft schedule will be released in June. However for those targeting qualification meets for the event, entries for the Championships are set to close on Tuesday 26 November.

Going forward, the competitions dates are being reviewed with the aim of ensuring that the event is optimally placed in the competition calendar and enables consistent planning for all those involved.
