More than 1,500 swimmers set to compete at National Summer Meet
July 27, 2018More than 1,500 swimmers from across the country will be descending on Sheffield for Swim England’s National Summer Meet.
And they will be cheered on by large crowds as more than 3,000 tickets have already been sold so far for the heats and finals over the five-day event.
The Summer Meet is the largest event in the domestic swimming calendar in England and sees some of the country’s top young swimmers competing for national titles.
It takes place between Tuesday 31 July and Saturday 4 August at Ponds Forge International Pool.
Tickets are still available to purchase online at a discounted rate and will also be available on the day, while the event will also be streamed live on YouTube.
Range of events at Summer Meet
The boys’ age groups are 13-14 Years, 15 Years, 16 Years, 17 Years and 18 Years/Over while the girls’ age groups are 12-13 Years, 14 Years, 15 Years, 16 Years and 17 Years/Over.
Competitions are held across the full range of Olympic swimming events, as well as 50m for breaststroke, backstroke and butterfly. A range of multi-classification events are also held.
The Summer Meet forms part of a swimming competition structure in Great Britain whereby the top ranked swimmers in each event compete at the British Swimming Summer Championships.
The next ranked swimmers at Swim England affiliated clubs – or those who have chosen to be ranked as an English swimmer – are invited to compete at the Summer Meet.
