Nominations for the 25th UK Coaching Awards closing soon
September 3, 2022Nominations are still open for a prestigious awards ceremony which seeks to ‘reward the fantastic achievements’ of coaches across the country.
There are 13 awards up for grabs at the 2022 UK Coaching Awards and entries need to be submitted by 10:00am on Monday 12 September.
In their milestone 25th year, UK Coaching are looking for those coaches who have truly peaked in their role, demonstrating what great coaching means, and helping people to build a healthy relationship with physical activity and sport.
Mel Marshall, who was Team England’s head coach at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games and is also Adam Peaty’s coach, collected the High Performance Coach of the Year prize at the 2019 awards.
Emma Collings-Barnes was also successful as she won Talent Development Coach of the Year in 2020 after her fine work as Director of Swimming at Mount Kelly School.
Those are just two of the 13 categories with UK Coaching introducing two brand-new awards for this year’s event.
The new awards aim to honour the digital transformation of the coaching profession that was accelerated during the pandemic.
The new Online Coach of the Year award recognises a coach who delivers great coaching online via social media, apps, or other online methods.
Also there’s now a Podcast of the Year award that rewards a coach-led podcast that delivers, inspires, and informs top quality coaching.
‘Showing them how much they mean to us’
On the awards, UK Coaching’s CEO Mark Gannon said: “The UK Coaching Awards is an opportunity to recognise those coaches who live and breathe their craft.
“The Awards celebrate coaches who go the extra mile to deliver excellent experiences for their participants and teams.
“It takes lots of perseverance and time to become a great coach and every year we are astounded at those who through self-determination and investment in themselves and their practice, have become truly great coaches.
“The last couple of years haven’t been easy. The latest data from Sport England reported over 6 million people gave up their time to lead activity sessions in the 12-month period between November 2020 and 2021, and many of these will have been coaches.
“That’s why we would like the public to really get behind our amazing coaches and show them how much they mean to us.
“I look forward to reading all the nominations and hope that the public once again makes this a difficult task for the panel to choose our winners.”
Swim England’s Head of Coaching Lindsay Trimmings says that these awards are the perfect opportunity to commend our coaches throughout all our aquatic disciplines.
She said: “The UK Coaching awards provide a great opportunity to recognise and reward the incredible work of our coaches across all of our sports.
These fantastic coaches work tirelessly to support the aspirations of our aquatic participants in all sporting contexts, from grassroots through to the elite level and we encourage people to make a nomination.”
