Jacob Peters shows promise in 100m Fly heats
December 16, 2017Poole SC’s Jacob Peters looks the man to beat in the men’s 100m Butterfly final on day four of the Swim England National Winter Championships.
The 17-year old has had an amazing meet so far, having won silver in last night’s 200m Fly and gold in the 50m Fly.
His 200m race saw him duck under the consideration time for the Gold Coast, beaten only by Olympic and world relay medallist James Guy.
He is the fastest qualifier for tonight’s 100m final with a 53.38 effort – just 0.06 shy of his PB.

Abbie Wood seeks gold after day four heats
Loughborough Uni’s Abbie Wood could have her sights set on another medal on day four.
She won silver in the 200m Breaststroke yesterday, and was the fastest English qualifier of the 200m IM heats.
She touched in 2:15.43 to reach this evening’s finals. If she manages to lower her personal best time of 2:12. 62 this evening, she could be looking at a gold medal.
But it will be a stacked field in tonight’s final, with the likes of Molly Renshaw, Katie Matts, Aimee Willmott and Hannah Miley in the mix.
Palmer and Wilby face up in 50m Breaststroke
Putteridge’s Lawrence Palmer and James Wilby were the two fastest qualifiers in the men’s 50m breaststroke.
Loughborough’s Wilby is chasing down a breaststroke golden hat-trick, having already won the 100m and 200m titles. He touched in a new personal best time of 27.86.
Putteridge was fastest to the wall however, and starts in lane four after his 27.78 effort. Bath National Centre’s Charlie Attwood is also in with a shout, with a personal best of 27.89 set at the British Swimming Championships 2017.
All to play for in 200m Back
Both Rosie Rudin and Jessica Fullalove will be hoping to claim the 200m Backstroke title, and seem to have left plenty in the tank for this evening’s finals. Both swimmers have personal best times within the consideration time for the Gold Coast, and will be favourites to top the podium.
Fullalove of Bath NC is the fourth fastest qualifier from the heats, with a time of 2:14.98. Sheffield’s Rudin swam 2:15.75 and will take lane two in the final.
City of Manchester’s Chloe Golding could be a surprise package in this race too, having won silver under the consideration time in the 100m Back on day two.
Clark lines up second gold in 100m Breast
Imogen Clark of Loughborough National Centre has her sights set on another title to add to her gold in the 50m Breaststroke from the opening night.
She was the only swimmer to go under 1:10 in the heats of the 100m Breaststroke, touching in 1:09.36.
Clark has already swam under the consideration time for the Gold Coast – though not in an eligible event for selection – and will be targeting the 1:07.81 time to put her in the frame for selection.
Triple threat for 100m Freestyle title
Ellie Faulkner, Anna Hopkin and Jessica Jackson will be battling it out for the 100m Freestyle title after some good performances in this morning’s heats.
Hopkin was the second fastest qualifier behind 17-year-old Canadian Taylor Ruck. She will take lane five in the final, and leads the English contingent with a 55.14 heat swim.
All three English swimmers are within a second of the consideration time and will be fighting for both individual and relay spots.
